Ah, Summer time! The winter seemed to stretch on forever but now we can relax and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.
The weather gets hot we exchange our woolies for shorts, tanks and bathing suits. We’ve spent the spring shedding those few extra winter pounds and now we are ready to hit the surf with a strong and toned body. Yet an interesting phenomenon occurs: the very things we did to get that body are suddenly shelved for replacement activities such and lying by the pool, eating bar-b-que and drinking beer.
You did the work, it paid off; don’t lose it for the sake of 2-4 extra hours a week of down time. Training during the summer months will help to keep fitness at peak levels while maintaining technique. Summer training at Driftwood Martial Arts is about fun. You may find it difficult to get motivated to hit the treadmill or the gym, but we will work with you to keep you as excited about summer classes as you are about the beach.
Parents: you play a large role in motivating your child to train when the weather is nice. We all want to spend time at the beach or cottage but it doesn’t have to come at the sacrifice of physical training. The large majority of our young people will spend the summer inside playing on the computer, watching tv and playing video games. By ensuring that your child is in class 2 – 4 times a week will help them to maintain fitness levels, gain important self discipline skills and stimulate their minds.
So throw on those training pants and t-shirts, tie up those belts and hit the dojo floor for some fun and exciting summer training. We have lots of great stuff planned and you are not going to want to miss a single minute of it!
